Kokedama
Holding Time, Air, and Roots
Kokedama is a form of plant art from Japan.
The roots are wrapped in soil and moss, no pot, just a simple green sphere
It lets plants grow as they are, freely and naturally.
More than decoration, kokedama carries rhythm, breath, and the quiet beauty of time.

Floral Feast
This collection of artwork draws inspiration from the timeless philosophy of Ikebana , the Japanese art of flower arrangement, which cherishes the fleeting beauty of nature. As a florist, I experience the inevitable waste of flowers every day, each discarded with a quiet sense of loss, as if nature’s beauty is overlooked. This piece seeks to transform these often-dismissed materials, imbuing them with new purpose and meaning. Through this process, what was once discarded finds deeper significance, reflecting both nature’s cycles and the creative journey itself. The focus extends beyond visual harmony, delving into the subtle structures of each material. Techniques such as stripping, cutting, and drying reveal their unique qualities, blending floral elements with culinary components (inspired by a culinary book named "Noma: Time and Place in Nordic Cuisine") to create a refined, elegant composition, where nature and art converge.

Art Intervention: The Mingled Darkness and Brightness
Hong Kong,2023
bamboo and rattan
"The Mingled Darkness and Brightness" is a site-specific installation inspired by the Chinese idiom 「龍蛇混雜」, symbolizing the coexistence of good and evil. Drawing from the history of the Kowloon Walled City in the 1950s, once a lawless area controlled by the Triads, the artwork contrasts the dragon's honor and power with the snake's wickedness. Using rattan and bamboo, the installation creatively depicts a dragon and snake, symbolizing the blend of light and darkness. The project emphasizes the interaction of space and shape, much like the art of Ikebana, and connects with the community by sparking discussions about history and culture. It aims to engage the public, revitalizing collective memories and enhancing the park's design.

Shimenawa
woven from straw, is a symbol of sacredness and protection. It is commonly seen draped over tori gates, ancient trees, or stones at Japanese shrines.
Beyond its beauty, it carries blessings; people also hang small shimenawa at their doorways to pray for safety and good fortune. Divinity does not dwell only in shrines, it flows through the quiet strength of nature itself.
